Nintendo Wii Brings The Gym to You With Wii-Fit

Nintendo has announced a new fitness game Wii Fit which is a full on exercise product set to give you more of a workout than Wii sports, while still retaining all the fun of gaming. Wii Fit will help to keep you physically fit via a dedicated peripheral, a wireless balance board which comes with the game. There are over 40 different activities, including hula hooping, ski jumping and heading soccer balls.

The hula hooping consists of, as youd expect, gyrating your hips with a virtual hoop onscreen and then as the game progresses, characters will throw more hoops for you to catch and rotate as many times as you can until the time runs out.

The skiing game gives you two chances to make the longest jump you can whilst keeping your balance when landing. Players can increase speed by leaning forward, the more you lean the faster youll go, and upon reaching the jump, you stand up straight ensuring your weight is evenly balanced for a good landing.

For the football game, you will need to balance on the board moving from side to side whilst balls are fired at you to hit back on to the field and avoiding other objects that are thrown at you at the same time.

training falls into 4 categories: Aerobics, muscle conditioning, yoga and balance games. Players can assign their height to a profile to measure body mass index and Wii fitness age as well as monitor progress and record performance statistics.

The calorie busting fun could appeal to couch potato kids as well a non gamers, perhaps using the Nintendo Wii as a slimming tool which would be a move into the lifestyle category rather than gaming, covering the market from another angle.

Nintendo has not given a release date yet for Wii Fit, although its thought to hit the highstreet in early 2008.

5 Reasons Why You Need a Doula

A doula is a labor support professional who can assist you when going through childbirth. Traditionally, women were always attended by other experienced women to help them get through this difficult life transition. In the modern day hospital setting, women are generally unattended until it is time to actually deliver. This means a first time mom could spend 16-18 hours feeling completely alone. The nurses will hook you to the monitor, and check on you about once an hour.

A doula is a professional, trained to handle the non-clinical aspects of labor. She is familiar with the process of childbirth and how to guide you through the progression of labor with effectiveness. This is the only experienced professional who stays with the mother from the time her labor is active, until after the baby is born.

Here are 5 reasons a mom will want a doula by her side:

1.The mother will have professional help in developing a birth plan, as a doula assists the new parents in understanding all the available options

2.The mother will have an experienced professional by her side continuously during labor

3.The mother will be physically comforted by the doulas comfort measures, including warm compresses, massage, relaxation and breathing techniques

4.The partner will have support and guidance in how to help the mother during labor

5.The couple will have a beautiful account of what happened during labor, as a doula will keep a record and many mothers lose focus of the time

These are just a few things that a doula can do for you! Here is what Jacksonville moms are saying about having a doula for their birth:

She [our doula] provided us with important prenatal information and practice relaxation techniques that assisted my husband and me to feel prepared for the birth.

The positive outcome of our labor was directly impacted by our doulas birthing expertise and her ability to assist me in managing my labor. We would not have been able to have a natural, non-medicated delivery without our doula!

This was the best money we spent when preparing for our new baby!

Educate yourself and hire and doula to help you have a shorter, easier birth and a wonderful birth experience.

Importance of Controlling Your Mind

Since ancient times, the human philosophers have realized the importance of mind in governing the human affairs. They knew that a persons external circumstances were the result of his internal thoughts. They were aware that if the person thought riches, he would be riches, while the thoughts of poverty, success and failure would produce the corresponding effects in the persons circumstances. Today, modern science has acknowledged the truth of these findings. Hence it becomes crucial for a person to control his mind.

yoga has specific techniques which deal with the science of mind control. We will study the nature of mind as is recognized by yoga in this chapter. Shankaracharya has defined mind in four different ways as per its functions: manas for the job of resolving and doubting; buddhi for the decision and judgment; asmita for the consciousness of its individual existence and chita for remembering the previous experiences. Mind is a vast collection of thoughts and traces of the past experiences. When you are born, your mind is the collection of samskaras collected over the previous births. Those samskaras, whose fruits have already been enjoyed have been wiped out. But as you grow up, new samskaras are being added continuously due to various acts performed by you from birth to death. This translates into the law of karma which states that the events one faces in his life are the results of the activities done by him in the past and his mind at birth contains the samskaras from his previous births. Our

yoga recognizes five factors, basic to the mind of every person. They are called kleshas because they are the forefathers of every human misery. They are: avidya which is the false knowledge or ignorance of ones true self in relation to the objects; asmita or ego feeling since in yoga, body and soul are two different aspects; raga is the liking of pleasurable experience; dvesha or aversion to pain; abhinivesha or fear of death. yoga understands the human behaviour from the perspective of these five qualities which are assumed to be present in a person since birth and are considered as the impurities of the mind. They make a person unstable and agitated. Hence yoga has given way of dhyana and pranayam to cleanse your mind.

Case Study: The Golf Industry in Japan - A Well-Kept Secret to Successful Marketing

While working on developing the world's first global launch of a 100% biodegradable/compostable corn-based polymer fiber sock in 2005 I came across some very interesting information about the golf industry.

For those of you not in this industry you may not be aware but apparently Japan is the most brutally competitive market in the world, for golf. Korea is a close second. Every company is constantly innovating, developing, refining, looking for that edge, attempting to eke out a little bit extra to gain the competitive advantage in order to take a greater part of market share.

My client is a high-end golf club manufacturer. He is extremely innovative and always looking to develop new hot products to provide his customers. He does not hesitate to place a one-shot $30,000 1/3 page ad in the leading business newspaper that all of the CEOs, CFOs, COOs, etc. read every single day to learn about business and truly leading-edge product development. What he confided in me regarding a Japanese-marketing tactic is truly inspiring.

I found out that there is a ranking system in the USA where every golf tournament statistics are presented showing the percent of golfers (in that tournament) using every single product in use at the tournament. A grand survey is prepared and distributed among the players, marketers, companies. They collect data and publish it like thus: "X% of golfers wear/use brand Y products".

This information is culled by the Japanese golf-goods manufacturers and used as an amazing marketing tool in Japan. Here is how it works.

"Shaft Co., Ltd" (an imaginary company) makes a new shaft, let's call it "Shafted" and gives it out for free to all of the golfers at a tournament. As an example out of the 180 golfers on the tournament, 160 use the shaft and the other super pros (like Tiger woods who have other contracts) don't. They try it out. The statistics for that tournament are published. In there we would see that 89% of US Golfers use "Shafted brand shafts".

"Shaft Co., Ltd"., takes those statistics back to Japan and turns them into a marketing bonanza. They take out a 1/3 page ad in the Japan Economics Newspaper (Nihon Keizai Shimbun) that is read by all of the company executives in Japan. The ad claims that 88.9% of US pro course golfers use "Shafted brand" shafts.

The ad runs and it hits the market.

When the Japanese market sees this information, they assume that 88.9% of all golfers in Japan use this shaft. Since the USA is the "hotspot" for golf, where only the best products are used by the pros, the market here in Japan makes the leap to the assumption, "if it is good for about 90% of US golfers, it HAS to be good for us!".

Here you need to understand that Japan emulates the USA in golf. Even the pro golfers here look to the trends in the USA and try to follow them religiously.

Once this happens, everyone goes out and buys "Shafted brand" clubs and this shaft goes from an unknown to Number One in the industry, overnight.

My client is designing a special sock to give golfers an edge over the others. This is how my introduction to the biodegradable sock ties into this story. In addition to the high-tech design of the socks he also plans to use this marketing technique to dramatically improve the sales of his socks in Japan and strategically place his product ahead of the pack.

Because Japanese uses a lot of "fuzzy language" it is possible to create a marketing plan in such a way to capitalize on this cultural aspect and target the mass market.

When you want to conduct successful business in Japan, you need to understand more than just the language to get over the many hidden hurdles.

Good luck!

The Cheapest Cell Phone Plans

So you're in the market for a new cell phone plan. You start your cell phone search online to give you an idea on wireless phone service prices. Free cell phones, get a free cell phone, the lowest cell phone rates, compare cell phone rates. Starting to look familiar?

Free cell phone offers and low cellular rate plans are indeed enticing, but are they really the cheapest cell phone plans? To say they have the cheapest cell phone service is also to say they know your calling habits. There is more to cell phone rates than cents per minute.

Isn't the cheapest cell phone plan the one with the smallest bill at the end of each month? It makes sense to me. So how do you find the best cell phone plan with the lowest cellular rates that will leave you with the cheapest cell phone bill at the end of each month?

Cell phone plans come in two forms. Prepaid cell phones, otherwise known as pay as you go cell phone service, and regular monthly cell phone plans. When deciding which is best for you, think about how much you'll use the cellular service each month.

Prepaid cell phone plans are great if you will not be using the cell phone very often. If you use a cell phone for emergencies only, you'll benefit from pay as you go since it doesn't cost much to add minutes to your prepaid cell phone and you won't need to top up again for awhile.

Monthly cell phone plans are best if you are going to use your cellular service often, since many cell phone services offer unlimited nights and weekends, free mobile to mobile, and a healthy amount of anytime minutes. You can even get a free cell phone with a service agreement.

The secret formula to getting the cheapest cell phone plan for you is, usage, plus rates, plus incentives. Incentives being the freebies like free cell phones or free minutes. Find a healthy balance of all three factors, and you'll have your cheapest cell phone plan.

Playing Golf Shots Over Water

If I gave you a million dollars do you think you may have one or two thoughts about the money? Of course you would. If we were driving very fast along a road perhaps you would have some thoughts about the speed we were travelling? Quite probably. And if you were standing on the tee of a 170 yard par 3 hole with a small lake in front of the green do you think you may have some thoughts about the water? Absolutely!

But what very often happens is that the instant those thoughts appear we become lost in a drama. We act as if there is something wrong with the thought. Perhaps we focus on what we dont want to happen - OK, just keep it out of the water, the voice in our head tells us, so we swing not really sure if we are laying up, going for the green, or focussing on the water. A top, a fat shot or a splash is the likely result.

Or perhaps faced with this shot we try and convince ourselves that the water isnt there, we visualise it as grass or use some other mental trick to try and block out what we see. There is no water we may tell ourselves on one level, but at a deeper level we know it is there, weve seen it, and we are not fully integrated as we swing.

Surely it would be better just to acknowledge reality. See the water, decide what shot you can confidently play (there is no shame in laying up if that is what you know you can comfortably do), fully commit to that shot, and play it.

I used to get a bit anxious when faced with a shot over water. But then I realised I was making this much more significant than it really was. It wasnt so much a water trap, more of a mind trap.

The nervous system sees water and produces a thought about it - thats absolutely normal. What begins to drag us down is when we react to that perfectly normal thought and begin to make a story about it - Oh, oh, maybe Ill use a cheap ball on this hole, just in case I drop it in, or Oh heck, the last time I was here I knocked two balls into the lake. You dont need that kind of pressure. We jump forward into what if? scenarios, or drag up all of our past mistakes. We are certainly not fresh and in this moment with this shot.

One of the things that makes the GolfInTheMoment approach so unique is that we are not trying to control our thoughts. That is virtually impossible and uses us a horrific amount of mental and physical energy. Its much easier to simply let them be, but not get involved with them. Life is experienced with much more peace and fluidity in this way.

These past few weeks I have been working with the head professional of a leading course in Scotland. Last week we played the Torrance course at St. Andrews Bay resort, a beautiful links course which I highly recommend. As we were playing he shared that he often experienced fear at times during competitive matches, and he had tried many methods to manage or reduce this. When we looked a bit closer at this it became obvious that the biggest fear he faced was the fear that fear may strike. This induces timidity into our play, where we focus on trying to hold it together during a competitive round rather than relaxing and exploring just how good we can be on that particular day.

But he was now beginning to have a different experience as he was able to use these new techniques to let go of trying to control his thoughts and emotions. He felt freer, able to see that he had a choice, and that if he simply didnt get involved with the thoughts and emotions they would move on their own anyway.

And very often our interpretation of them is wrong. For example, those first-tee nerves that you have convinced yourself you always have - well, maybe thats just excitement. They both have a similar physical sensation.

So, your homework from this article is very simple - let everything be as it is, just accept it. Thoughts are normal and natural, and having energy moving through your body is absolutely OK.

And if you really want to go for broke, take a ball and deliberately play it into the water, then take a look around. Is there any blood on the ground? Have your arms fallen off? Have you gone bankrupt as a result of it? Has anything in your world suddenly fallen apart? No, so lets get some perspective on this thing, eh? Even the best players find water now and then, and they accept that it is part of the game. So if that attitude serves them it surely will serve you too. Until next time, have fun.
